Gary O’Neil has left Bournemouth.
The head coach leaves the club after overseeing 37 games last season. His ten wins and six draws in the Premier League were instrumental in Bournemouth’s relegation.
A statement from Bournemouth said: “The appointment of a new head coach will be announced shortly.”
O’Neil was put in charge of the interim following Scott Parker’s departure earlier in the season. He managed to lead Bournemouth to 15th place in the Premier League.
Bournemouth owner and chairman Bill Foley said: “Gary’s performance last season is one for which I will always be grateful. This was a difficult decision, but we made it with great consideration in order to position ourselves in the best possible way for the coming season.
“As a club, we have laid out plans for long-term success by making infrastructure improvements, most notably the development of a new state-of-the-art training facility and the ongoing discussions about upgrades to our stadium.”
“We have also identified a number of significant targets in the transfer market this summer and believe this change of direction will provide us with the best platform to build on.”
“Gary will have a long career as a head coach or manager but we believe a move at this time is in this football club’s best interest. I would like to say thank you to Gary and wish him all the best for the future.”
