First look at Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk’s newly completed “eco-mansion” in Montecito

Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk’s massive, eco-friendly Montecito mansion appears to be complete after seven years of construction, according to new aerial photos taken over the weekend.

The mega mansion, which features an Olympic-sized pool, was previously seen without the exterior landscaping, which is now complete.

Gwyneth and Brad originally bought the 14,000-square-foot home in 2016 for $4.9 million.

When they bought the house it was reported that extensive work was needed as it already had four bedrooms and four bathrooms.

The energy couple installed 60 solar panels and additional trees on the property.

The house sits on a huge lot and the landscaping appears to be complete.

In 2021 only the lawn around the freshly completed pool was completed; Shrubs and trees and a stone path have been completed.

There are two Gue houses on the property, one across from the huge pool and one across from the stone walkway.

Landscaping along the driveway has also been added.

Paltrow bought the property in 2016 for just $4.9 million, since then it has become the preferred neighborhood for high-profile celebrities seeking solace away from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles.

Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres are just a few of the A-listers residing in the celebrity-favorite enclave.

The royal couple moved into their sprawling nine-bedroom, 16-bathroom mansion in upscale Montecito in June 2020 for $14.65 million.

Surrounded by lush green gardens and overlooking the sea, the Paltrow/Falchuk home has been described as “hidden paradise”.

A real estate agent who spent an hour inside said it was “designed for someone who never wants to leave home”.

Brett Buschbom said: “I walked through this house and an hour later I came out with a ‘wow’. The entire lower floor felt like a resort with a steam room, massage room, sauna, jacuzzi, full bar, arcade, etc. “The most amazing wine cellars and that was just the basement.”

Undoubtedly, the redevelopment was an interesting experience for Paltrow’s neighbors, having sparked controversy with her neighbors in 2016 when she bought two adjacent properties in the district and was cleared for plans to build a new mansion on both properties.

Speaking to Page Six at the time, one of her neighbors insisted that the new home was “too big, too high and inconsistent with the adjoining homes, blocking their view.”

Gwyneth, who also owns homes in New York and London, had infuriated neighbors after plans for the house were approved, despite claims the house was still “too tall” – after the star claimed the house to have lowered eight feet.

Andrew Rice, a spokesman for one neighbor, Michael MacElhenny, told Page Six, “She’s caused an uproar among neighbors on all three sides.” Michael and the other neighbors have tried to work with her, but have gotten nowhere.”

The rep at the time insisted the star only lowered the house a foot and claimed the project was approved based on false information.

The couple reportedly bought the Palladian-style home from controversial Nigerian businessman Kola Aluko after his bank accounts were confiscated over his nefarious business practices.

Living in private comes with some additional disadvantages, as in January 2018 mudslides destroyed the grounds of Paltrow’s home, leaving 17 dead, 8 missing and hundreds in their homes.

The property featured “Monet-like gardens” and stunning water features.

Gwyneth has two children, her identical daughter Apple, 19, and her son Moses, 17.

She shares the teenage years with ex-husband Chris Martin, to whom she was married from 2003 until announcing their “conscious split” in 2014.

The two artists have remained friends and committed co-parents, even though the Coldplay frontman shared a long-term relationship with actress Dakota Johnson.

In the year of their split, Gwyneth began dating Brad, a writer and television producer known for his collaborations with Ryan Murphy on Glee and the American Horror Story series.

The two married in July 2018.

Before Gwyneth and Brad, the latest celebrities to move to Montecito were Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine and his model wife Behati Prinsloo.

44-year-old crooner and Vogue star Behati, 35, snapped up the historic property for $22.7 million and the 9-bedroom, 11-bathroom home sits on a 12-acre lot.

The property was built in 1923 by famed architect George Washington Smith, who originally designed the property for an attorney named John A. Jameson, who had early ties to the city.
