In the morning hours of today in the low pressure area in the open waters of the central atlantic, the third tropical depression of the present was formed hurricane season. At 11 a.m. the central region was at 11.0 degrees north latitude and 40.3 degrees west longitude, a position that places it 2,295 kilometers east of the southern group of islands in the arc of the Lesser Antilles. The central pressure is 1009 hectopascals and the westward velocity is 33 kilometers per hour. The maximum continuous wind speed is 55 kilometers per hour, with stronger gusts.
The tropical depression will continue to gain organization and intensity over the next 12 to 24 hours as it moves along a similar course and at a similar rate across the open waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
The next tropical cyclone warning for this system will be issued at 6:00 p.m. Monday.
