F1: Canadian GP attendance record

The Canadian Grand Prix has been as popular as ever since its return to the Formula One calendar last year and welcomed a record number of motorsport fans over the weekend.

Formula 1 announced on Monday that 345,000 people watched the powerful single-seaters at the Gilles-Villeneuve circuit from Friday to Sunday. In addition, numerous fans visited the venue on Thursday for the traditional open day.

For several years, the organizers of the Grand Prix have not published their figures on the number of visitors to the Île Notre-Dame.

However, in 2022, after two editions were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the statista.com website counted 338,000 viewers. This made the Montreal event the season’s sixth most popular box office event.

According to f1destinations.com, 307,000 people passed through the hubs in 2019.

The Grand Prix weekend began on Thursday with the open day, during which several thousand fans streamed through the pit area. Despite the rain on Friday and Saturday, they were there again for free practice and qualifying.

After all, there were just as many on Sunday to see defending champion Max Verstappen triumph again during the Montreal race.
