A 22yearold, who was eight months pregnant, was shot in her car last week and managed to give birth to her daughter before she died. The case happened in Washington, United States. The information comes from the portal of the New York Post.
According to the information, the victim was accompanied by the child’s father when the two were surprised by a gunman who shot the vehicle several times. The companion fled the scene of the accident and took the woman to a hospital.
According to police, the doctors performed an emergency caesarean section and were able to save the baby, who was in serious condition. The mother succumbed to her injuries. There is no danger to life for the companion.
The victim’s grandmother came to the scene and stated that if her granddaughter, who was named Zailey, survived, she would take care of the little one.
“It’s all devastating and it’s also a huge financial burden. We’re asking if there’s anything that can be donated, we’d really appreciate it. There’s no such thing as an overstatement or understatement,” he says.
The family started crowdfunding online to help cover costs for hospitals where the newborn was hospitalized and under surveillance.
Police said the attack was planned but the motives are still unknown. So far, the perpetrators have not been arrested.
