The opera no longer exists! The venerable web browser gives way to its successor, Opera One, a more modern and rich software that gives great importance to customization but also and above all to artificial intelligence.

Despite not being as popular as Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari, Opera is still among the oldest web browsers, its first versions dating back to the 1990s… And despite stiff competition, Opera Software, its Norwegian publisher, was bought by the Chinese in 2016 Consortium Golden Brick – has never stopped innovating to develop its software off the beaten track, endowing it with original features and rolling it out on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. And this year 2023 could well mark a real advancement in its history. The company just hired Opera to welcome Opera One, its new web browser still based on Chromium. And if the heart of the software is still there, almost everything changes to enter the modern age. Modular user interface, more intuitive navigation and artificial intelligence are on the agenda to make this browser an even more comprehensive tool.
Opera One: AI built right into the browser
Microsoft got the ball rolling a few months ago by throwing in a little ChatGPT wherever it could, starting with its Edge browser. Opera Software jumps on the bandwagon and relies on its own artificial intelligence called Aria, which is also integrated into the web browser. As for Edge, OpenAI is in charge with ChatGPT. To access it, simply create a free Opera account. From there, just like Bing Chat in Edge, Aria can respond to any questions you want to ask her. Aria is obviously connected to the web (unlike ChatGPT) and so is able to provide information that stays on top of the news.
Opera One: more intuitive navigation
With Opera One, publisher Opera Software also reviewed the use of tabs. The browser therefore offers “tab islands”, i.e. groups of tabs that are grouped according to topics, for example. For example, a shopping island can be created when you do your shopping and will not be mixed up with the work island, which groups together all the tabs related to your work and opens them in parallel. You’re free to add whatever tabs you want to each island on the fly, and even save them for faster opening later. These islands or workspaces take the form of icons in the browser’s famous sidebar, which is always present.
Note that this sidebar can also include shortcuts to services like Messenger WhatsApp, ChatGPT, Instagram, Twitter, etc.
Finally, the interface has a modular concept for dynamic adaptation to needs. For example, multiple tabs of the same website can be stacked with a single click to save space in the tab bar.
