The accident happened around 2.45pm this afternoon when the vehicle, being driven by a woman in her 30s, reportedly swerved violently. Unfortunately, the driver, who was the only one on board, was thrown from her vehicle. The death of the latter was determined at the scene, as confirmed by Louis-Philippe Ruel, spokesman for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The accident happened in a section of Lemire Ouest Boulevard where the road is a straight line and the speed limit is 90 km/h. Shortly after police and paramedics arrived, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The file and the investigation into the circumstances of the accident were presented to the Sûreté du Québec and the coroner.
No hypothesis is currently excluded that could explain the circumstances of the accident: speed, distraction, mechanical failure. Witnesses have already been interviewed to gather as much information as possible to understand what could have led to this discrepancy.
A collision investigator from the SQ was dispatched to the scene of the accident to investigate the causes and circumstances of this accident.
Boulevard Lemire Ouest is currently closed to traffic, forcing motorists to make a detour while the scene of the accident is being analysed. The MTQ is on site to circulate motorists and direct them to detour via Route Rodier, 5e Ring and Route Chagnon.
After analyzing the scene of the accident, the driver’s vehicle will be towed away for a mechanical inspection and in-depth analysis, along with her cell phone, authorities confirm.
