The former president and 2024 presidential candidate has been accused of endangering the security of the United States by storing confidential documents after he left the White House.

The 70-year-old pleaded not guilty to the charges against him, describing his historic charges as “heinous abuse of power”.

If the date for this federal trial were kept, it would begin less than 10 days before the first debate between Republican candidates, scheduled for August 23 in Wisconsin.

However, it is very common for these appointments to be postponed due to requests from the parties.

Surrounded by investigations, Donald Trump has already been indicted by the New York State Justice Department on multiple accounting frauds related to a pre-election payment made to silence an X-movie actress.

This criminal trial is to be organized in early 2024.

Even the former tenant of the White House, currently the big favorite in the Republican primaries, is not finished with the legal problems. A Georgia prosecutor is expected to announce the outcome of her investigation into his pressure to change the 2020 presidential election by September.

A special prosecutor is also investigating his role in his supporters’ attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
