The wife of Stockton Rush, director of OceanGate and since Sunday (18) pilot of the missing submarine, is a descendant of two passengers who were on the Titanic. Wendy Rush is the greatgreatgranddaughter of Isidor and Ida Straus, who were first class passengers on the ship that sank in 1912 and was the destination of the OceanGate expedition. Wendy’s family members were retail tycoons and two of the wealthiest people aboard the ocean liner. The information comes from the New York Times.

It was at this time that the couple went on their first trip. Isidor Straus, born in 1845, was a coowner of Macy’s department store. Wendy is a descendant of one of the couple’s daughters, Minnie, mother of Richard Weil Jr., who became President of Macy’s New York. According to Joan Adler, executive director of the Straus Historical Society, he had a son named Richard Weil III, who is Wendy’s father.

Wendy Rush’s ancestors are known for their tragic love story. Some survivors of the disaster reported seeing Isidor refused space on a lifeboat while women and children still waited to escape the ship. Ida reportedly said she would not leave her husband and the two were seen standing side by side on the deck of the Titanic as it sank.

According to the newspaper, his body was found two weeks after the disaster, but his wife’s was never recovered. They were immortalized by director James Cameron, who was responsible for the film that told the story of the sinking in 1997. The scene is depicted in the lengthy “Titanic” with an elderly couple embracing in a bed as the water level rises. Seek:

Stockton’s wife, born Wendy Hollings Weil, married the submarine pilot in 1986. Wendy’s Linkedin page reported that she has reportedly taken part in three OceanGate expeditions to view the wreck of the Titanic in the past three years. She also served as the company’s communications director and was a member of the charity board.

Authorities estimate the submersible ran out of oxygen on Thursday (22). On Wednesday (21) search teams said they had detected noise in the area every thirty minutes. According to Rolling Stone magazine, the noises were beats. However, no new leads were reported. There are five people on board: Stockton, who acts as pilot; British billionaire Hamish Harding; Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman Dawood; and PaulHenry Nargeolet, considered one of the greatest experts on the sinking of the Titanic.
