For the citizens of Lebel-sur-Quévillon, the worst-case scenario is confirmed, as the mayor announced that his city’s citizens will have to evacuate the area for the second time by 6:30 p.m. on Thursday due to the meteoric progression of the forest fires.

Guy Lafrenière confirmed the information at a press conference on the city’s Facebook page.
“Unfortunately, Route 113 North is now blocked by fire. The fire is now crossing the street on the north side of 113 to reach Chapais and Chibougamau. For this reason, civil security strongly recommends the complete evacuation of the city. The evacuation order is effective immediately. “You must have left at 6:30 tonight,” he said in the middle of the day.
The hot and dry weather of the past few days has accelerated the progress of the fire, which is spreading east and north of Lebel-sur-Quévillon in North-du-Québec.
Recall that the 2,000 citizens of the community were allowed to return to their homes last weekend after being away from their homes for 16 days.
Many of them had found refuge in Senneterre, in Abitibi-Témiscamingue.
More details to come.
