The Quebec bus manufacturer Nova Bus will end its bus production in the USA.
The news was announced on the company’s website on Wednesday. As a result, Nova Bus will close its assembly plant and delivery center in Plattsburgh by 2025.
The decision will gradually affect full-time positions at Nova Bus, the company said.
“We will do everything we can to support our employees, many of whom have been with our company for many years,” said Ralph Acs, President of Nova Bus.
“We will work with our Volvo subsidiaries, surrounding companies, local authorities and communities to help our employees find new employment opportunities,” he added.
Production in North America now takes place at the plants in Saint-Eustache and Saint-François-du-Lac.
Nova Bus is still analyzing the impact of this decision on the organizational structure. A reorganization will take place in the next two years, said the main interested party.
