Pop star Kesha and producer Dr. Luke on Thursday announced a settlement in the defamation lawsuit he brought against her after she accused him of rape in 2014. The settlement comes after nearly a decade of lawsuits and counterclaims.

Both parties released a joint statement on Instagram on Thursday announcing the settlement.

“I look forward to closing the door on this chapter of my life and beginning a new one,” Kesha said in her statement. “I wish all involved only peace.”

Kesha, whose official name is Kesha Rose Sebert, said in the statement that she “can’t relate everything that happened.” “God knows what happened that night,” she said.

dr Luke, born Lukasz Gottwald, wished Kesha well in his statement and said he hoped the case would be a thing of the past.

“For the sake of my family, I have fought valiantly to clear my name for almost a decade,” said Dr. Hatch. “It is time for me to put this difficult matter behind me and move on with my life.”

He added: “I’m absolutely sure nothing happened. I never drugged or assaulted her and I wouldn’t do that to anyone.”

Lawyers for both parties did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The two were set to face charges in New York later that summer on allegations that have plagued both camps for years and actively involved some of the biggest names in music, including Lady Gaga, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, Avril Lavigne and Taio Cruz.

The legal battle began in 2014 when Kesha killed Dr. Luke is suing over allegations of verbal abuse and alleged sexual assault.

dr Luke then countersued Kesha for defamation, arguing that her claims that he raped her in 2005 were false. He also claimed that Kesha made false and false claims about him to Lady Gaga.

In 2020, New York Supreme Court Justice Jennifer G. Schecter ruled that Kesha Dr. Luke had defamed in a private text message to Lady Gaga. In the 2016 text message, Kesha said that she and Katy Perry were raped “by the same man,” referring to Dr. Hatch. Perry testified in an affidavit that she was not raped by the producer. The judge ruled that the text was defamatory even though it was a private message.

Without an agreement, the defamation trial was scheduled to begin on July 19. The New York Court of Appeals ruled June 13 that Dr had been higher, according to Portal.

The agreement also comes a month after the release of Kesha’s latest album – and the last of her signed full-length albums on Dr. Luke’s record label, Kemosabe Records. Kesha has said that the Gag Order album was inspired by her struggles over the past few years.
