Roaming data at no extra cost, T-Mobile did it – Agence Ecofin

(Ecofin Agency) – The telecommunications company T-Mobile, a subsidiary of the operator Deutsche Telekom, is preparing to introduce data roaming without additional costs in 100 countries, including the United States. The new unlimited package (SMS, voice and data) allows subscribers to use their smartphone for data in all of these countries. In other words, customers no longer need to buy a local SIM card or add options to their subscription when traveling abroad.

The new plan, which will be marketed from October 20th, will be offered for $50. However, the subscription is still subject to some restrictions. Internet access abroad is only possible via the 2G (Edge) network with a speed that should be around 128 kb/s.

For more demanding customers, T-Mobile also offers optional packages with 100, 200 or 500 MB of high-speed data for a surcharge. International calls are charged at a maximum of $0.20 per minute.
