Agora de Québec: 5 Reasons to Watch Australia’s Pink Floyd Show – Le Journal de Québec

There are only a few spots left for Thursday night’s Australian Pink Floyd show at the Agora du Port de Québec.

General manager and program director Richard Samson says he’s not surprised by the enthusiasm for the group.

“Bands like Pink Floyd had such a strong following,” he says, “there are a lot of parents who come with their families, or young adults who met Pink Floyd because they played around the house as kids.”

While you wait for the show, here are five fun facts about Australian band Pink Floyd Show.

The band played Pink Floyd… at the Pink Floyd guitarist’s party

David Gilmour, the legendary band’s original guitarist, attended Australia’s Pink Floyd Show to celebrate their 50th anniversary. The invitation came after Gilmour visited the band backstage at a concert, saying, “I’d never had the chance to see Pink Floyd perform.” For example, the group’s renditions are striking.

They work alongside technicians from the original group

Colin Norfield, who served as sound engineer during the 1994 Bell Division tour, and Clive Brooks, drummer Nick Mason’s technician, worked with the band members. Who better could you wish for to get the right grades?

They have reinvented the world of lighting effects on stage

In 2011, Australia’s Pink Floyd Show became one of the first touring bands in history to use three-dimensional light projections.

Performances in 35 countries worldwide

Since their debut in 1988, the group has sold more than 5 million tickets and given concerts in 35 countries, including Russia.

Unforgettable concerts at the Bell Center

On the members’ presentation page on the group’s website, Steve Mac, co-founder, puts the Bell Center on his list of places he’s most enjoyed performing.
