AES Ohio utility charges rise from 4.8 cents to 10.9 cents per kWh: How that will change your bill

Get ready to pay more on your electric bill when AES Ohio is your home electricity supplier.

“Due to a number of conditions, including the situation in Ukraine, inflation, the price of natural gas and market conditions, our customers will increase tariffs by $0.06 per kWh, potentially doubling the price of the standard service offering,” Mary Ann told Kabel , spokesperson for AES Ohio.

So what does that mean for the amount you pay?

  • For a customer using 1,000 kWh per month, the bill will be increased by $60, Kabel said.

The changes will come into effect on June 1 and will increase the household connection price from 4.8 cents to 10.9 cents per kWh.

To see if AES Ohio is your supplier you can look on the second page of your invoice and under the Delivery Fees section and if the AES Ohio logo is present next to Supply Total then AES Ohio is your supplier.

There is an opportunity for you to potentially save money. You can check available competitive offerings by visiting the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio’s Energy Choice Ohio website at energychoice.ohio.gov. If you see a better plan available on the website, you can sign up with another provider.

The changes in delivery fees for AES Ohio customers will not affect delivery fees.

AES Ohio participates in a market-based auction for power generation along with other Ohio utilities, and the auction will be conducted by an independent third party under PUCO’s oversight, Kabel said.
