The Dave Matthews Band brings the hits along with some new songs to the Star Lake Show – TribLIVE

The Dave Matthews Band returned to the Pavilion at Star Lake on Friday night for their mostly annual trip.

The band is currently touring in support of their new album, Walk Around the Moon, which was released in May. It is the band’s first studio album since 2018.

“The band is in a really good mood right now,” singer-songwriter/guitarist Dave Matthews said in an interview in May. “Right now, at least, we all shine a positive light on each other, laugh a lot and enjoy making music together.”

Opening with the ever-popular 41, to the delight of nearly 14,000 fans, the band played the 21-song set with a mix of covers (Led Zepplin’s Fool In The Rain, The Beatles’ I Want You (She’s So Heavy)) and Brick House by The Commodores), fan favorites like Dancing Nancies, Gray Street, Granny and What would you say, plus four songs from their new album (Walk Around The Moon, Madman’s Eyes, After Everything and Monsters). The full setlist is below.

During the show, Matthews mentioned how much he loved Pittsburgh and how tough love was there.

The band last performed at Star Lake in August 2021. Dave Matthews performed at a rally for then US Senate nominee John Fetterman at Stage AE on the North Shore last October.

They ended the night with their rendition of Bob Dylan’s “All Along the Watchtower,” complete with a “Stairway to Heaven” outro. This show was also broadcast live on the DMB channel on Radio Sirius XM as part of the Dave Matthews Band’s Friday Night Concert Series.
