In the CIUSSS du Nord-de-l’Ile-de-Montréal, 17,000 people are monitored at home and often live alone. Nurses who go to their bedside at least once a week are instructed to make sure they are drinking well and that it is not too hot at home.
“We always do prevention. We give this advice, take water, cool off,” nurse Isabel Carpio explained to TVA Nouvelles.
“I come here air-conditioned. I put it in my room because I have nowhere else to put it, and it makes me feel good,” says his patient, Linda Girard.
At the CLSC de Montréal-Nord, another nurse calls patients who are not being visited today to ensure they are not inconvenienced.
“We will also make sure that we properly identify people who are considered vulnerable to be prepared in the event of a heatwave,” says Jenny Gonzalez, director of home support at CIUSSS du Nord-de-l’Île-de-Montréal. .
