AEW collision results – June 24, 2023
AEW Collision begins with brief promos from both teams for tonight’s main event, which pits CM Punk, FTR and Ricky Starks against Bullet Club Gold and The Gunns. It was very reminiscent of a Saturday night main event.
Tony Schiavone is in the ring trying to get Sting and Darby Allin out so they can reveal their partner for Forbidden Door tomorrow. Chris Jericho comes out with Minoru Suzuki instead. There is no Sammy Guevara to be found.
Chris Jericho tells Schiavone and everyone in the crowd to shut up. Jericho said he wasn’t from Toronto; He’s from Winnipeg, you idiots. Jericho said he was in a bad mood because Sting and Darby kept her waiting to find out who her partner was. Jericho wants to know who they will get tougher than Suzuki.
Jericho said Guevara wasn’t there tonight because he was upset that he and Suzuki were such good friends. Jericho said he wasn’t waiting for an answer and claimed Schiavone knew who the partner was. He threatens him with the baseball bat, which eventually brings Sting and Allin out.
Darby Allin tells Jericho to shut up. Allin said he knows Sammy won’t be out there tonight, but if he shows up at the Forbidden Door tomorrow and joins Jericho and Suzuki, he’ll kick his ass…just like her partner kicked Jericho’s ass has the Tokyo Dome.
Jericho has a fit when Tetsuya Naito takes the stage. Suzuki doesn’t seem impressed by the announcement. Naito gets in the ring and stares at Jericho, causing The Ocho and Suzuki to leave the ring.
We go backstage and hear from Miro, he said he’s been in exile for over a year, but he’s finally been summoned. He said the coward had finally spoken; He said he would be his favorite champion again. All he had to do was praise him. At this point, Miro realized that the coward was also an idiot. Miro said it made him realize he had to go alone. He renounces his god, his gold and his beautiful wife. Because he is Miro and godless.
Hiroshi Tanahashi defeated Swerve Strickland
- Hiroshi Tanahashi hit the high fly flow on Swerve Strickland and secured the pinfall win.
MJF appears on the tron after the match and tells Tanahashi that he will embarrass him at Forbidden Door and anyone who thinks he is at his level. MJF said he told Tony Khan he could only show up for the pay-per-view if it was the first match on the card because he doesn’t want to spend his evening watching a bunch of Indy Jabronis wrestling. MJF said Tanahashi is not on the devil’s level.
Andrade El Idolo def. Brody King (with Julia Hart)
- Andrade El Idolo was just bridging the number 8 when Buddy Matthews rushed in and attacked El Idolo, resulting in disqualification.
Matthews and King double team and knock El Idolo down after the match and no one comes out to save him. Malakai Black is shown on the tron while Hart holds up El Idolo’s mask and the lights go out to end the segment.
Coming back from a commercial break, Tony Schiavone is back in the ring introducing Christian Cage and the TNT Champion Luchasaurus. Cage comes out with the TNT title on his shoulder. The Canadian audience chants Christian Cage.
Cage said he left Collision in a very bad mood last week but knew he’d be back in Toronto in a week with the TNT Championship, but he’s in a worse mood now. Cage said he can be brutally honest because he’s from here, saying this city makes losers and they’re okay with mediocrity, but he’s not.
He buries the Toronto Maple Leafs for being dismissed by the Florida Panthers in the second round. The audience has totally turned against Cage at this point. Cage praises Kawhi Leonard for leaving the Toronto Raptors.
Cage said there are no more open challenges for the TNT Championship and people need to earn them. He takes a snide shot at Cody Rhodes and says he will take the title to a new level and make it the most important title in all elite wrestling. Cage celebrates with the TNT title and Luchasaurus seems okay with it all.
A Hype pack plays for the men’s Owen Hart Cup tournament. Every man claims he will be the one to win the tournament. The men’s cup starts tomorrow with a duel between CM Punk and Satoshi Kojima.
New Japan STRONG Women’s Champion Willow Nightingale defeated Nyla Rose (w/ Marina Shafir) to advance in the Women’s Owen Hart Cup tournament
- Willow Nightingale powerbombs Nyla Rose to win the match and advance in the tournament.
Nightingale is surrounded in the ring by The Outcasts after the match. This reveals Skye Blue with a steel chair, causing the Outcasts to flee the ring area.
We hear backstage from Scorpio Sky, who said he watched the video pack last week and it should have felt good. But that was not the case. He said instead of a highlight reel, he should introduce himself. Opening up about the successes he’s had in All Elite Wrestling, he said the world will soon find out who Scorpio Sky really is.
Powerhouse Hobbs defeated Jeremy Prophet
- Powerhouse Hobbs wins with a spinebuster in a relatively quick squash match.
Jay White, Juice Robinson and The Gunns defeated CM Punk, FTR and Ricky Starks
- Juice Robinson hits Ricky Starks with a quarter throw that allowed Jay White to hit Starks with the Bladerunner, giving his team the pinfall win.
The Gunns appear to be joining Bullet Club Gold as AEW Collision goes off the air.
