Russia promises to guarantee “the safety” of Wagner fighters if they end their insurgency

Russia’s Defense Ministry on Saturday vowed to ensure “the safety” of fighters from the Wagner paramilitary group if they distance themselves from the “criminal adventure” of their boss Yevgeny Prigoyine, who mutinied against the state major.

“You were tricked into participating in Prigojine’s criminal adventure,” the ministry said in a statement. “Get in touch with representatives of the Russian Defense Ministry and law enforcement agencies as soon as possible. We guarantee everyone’s safety,” he added, saying that “many” members of the Wagner group had already contacted him to ask him to return to their barracks.
