Black Sabbath could have played at the inaugural Power Trip Festival this fall, but the musicians turned down the offer.

The three-day event, which will feature hard rock legends such as AC/DC, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Guns N’ Roses, Tool and Ozzy Osbourne, will take place from October 6th to 8th at the grounds of Coachella (the big American festival). . .

Tony Iommi recently appeared on Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk on SiriusXM and announced that Black Sabbath had been approached for the festival but ultimately turned down the offer.

He said (via Blabbermouth), “It was tough because Ozzy [Osbourne] I’m going through a lot these days. He goes back and forth to the hospital and is really struggling; He really wants to get back on stage. But in my opinion it was very difficult to say yes. I thought about the other band members. I was thinking about Ozzy, would he be willing to put on a show and stuff like that. So I wasn’t very happy with this idea. On the other hand, I didn’t know Ozzy could do it on his own [rires]. But it’s great. I hope he makes it and it’s going to be really good. He really wants to do it. And he’s really trying to pull the rope to get back in the saddle. He’s been going through so many hard things lately. It’s a shame. But he keeps fighting.”

Additionally, in an interview with the podcast Fueling Around in late May, AC/DC lead singer Brian Johnson envisioned the rock group’s return to the stage.

He said: “We decided to do this wonderful show in the desert near Palm Springs, near the Coachella festival. There are only rock ‘n’ roll bands. It’s awesome. To me that means rock ‘n’ roll is a legitimate form of music. He really was a game changer. ozzy [Osbourne] comes out of retirement [et est à l’affiche de ce festival]so I can see my old friends again. The Guns N’ Roses boys, the Metallica boys and the Iron Maiden boys – all in one place. It’s going to be a big party!”

He added, “It’s going to be in a beautiful valley near Coachella, but I’m not worried about that at all.” [l’expérience du festival]. I just like to show up, get on stage and let off steam until I get stiff.”

The Power Trip Festival will be held October 6-8 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.
