CF Montreal can’t capitalize and move in Charlotte

CF Montreal’s second away win of the season will have to wait as they drew 0-0 with Charlotte FC at the massive Bank of America Stadium on Saturday night.

CF Montreal goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois made a save for his team during the game. The Quebecer directed the 13 balloons in his direction. The 21-year-old goalkeeper has not given in to opponents in his last three matches.

Charlotte FC are going through tougher times these days as they haven’t managed to win in their last five games, lost two and drawn three.

As for the representatives from Quebec, they now have a record of 8-9-3, putting them in eighth place in the Eastern Conference.

CF Montreal triumphed twice last year against their Saturday opponents, who enter Major League Soccer (MLS) in 2022.

The Montrealers now have a record of (1-8-2) on opposing grass courts this season.

Head coach Hernan Losada said he was very happy that his team had picked up a point away from home.

“All the players did a great job offensively and defensively, especially in the first half. I think that’s an important point because when you look at the gap in the standings with a team like Charlotte not lagging behind us, it’s important to gain points away from home. Despite everything, there are positive points and points that need improvement,” stressed Hernan Losada in a press conference after the meeting.

The locals were very menacing early in the game. Winger Enzo Copetti was left alone at the opening but was frustrated by Sirois, who made an excellent save.

The Montreal team’s best chance to score came in the 13th minute of the game. Bryce Duke played a great pass to Sunusi Ibrahim, but Charlotte’s goalkeeper Kristijan Kahlina didn’t want to give the opponent anything.

Montreal then had a free-kick on the edge of the box early in the second half, but Gabriele Cordo couldn’t find the goal.

Head coach Hernan Losada’s men will be back in action in a week and host New York City FC.
