Another suspicious fire in Montreal

Police are investigating possible arson when a vehicle caught fire in a business’s parking lot in the Pierrefonds-Roxboro County on Sunday morning.

At around 6:30 a.m., the Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) was called to a car park on Boulevard Gouin, near Boulevard Lalande.

“The Montreal Fire Department was already in the process of bringing the blaze under control,” SPVM spokeswoman Caroline Chèvrefils said. The burned car is a total loss, a nearby car was damaged. There was no damage to property and no incendiary objects were found at the crime scene.”

The investigation was handed over to the SPVM’s arson department because the cause of the fire was “unknown and appears suspicious,” the spokesman said.

The crime scene was protected for investigators. They will try on site to determine the causes and circumstances of the fire. The SPVM will also conduct analysis of the various surveillance cameras located nearby.

We recall that another vehicle caught fire in the Ville-Émard district during the night from Friday to Saturday. The arson unit SPVM is also responsible for the investigation.
