Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang received Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko in Beijing on Sunday, China said. It was the first public meeting between diplomats from both countries since the armed uprising of the Wagner group.

The two men exchanged views “on Sino-Russian relations and international and regional issues of common interest,” according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry press release, without giving further details and without specifying whether the previous day’s events in Russia were discussed.
