Nuria Diosdado (Guadalajara, 32 years old) has found her best version over the years. The water has made him the main face of artistic swimming in Mexico. By winning the gold medal, the Mexican established herself as the best free solo competitor in the entire region.
Diosdado, who in other performances with Joana Jiménez preferred to give his performances a more eighties touch, opted for a delicate staging to the rhythm of Gracias a la vida, composed by Violeta Parra and sung by Mercedes Sosa. The Mexican exercise had a difficulty rating of 27.85, one of the highest on the occasion. The jury rated it the best, awarding it 161.25 points ahead of the competition from Aruba, Colombia, Cuba and El Salvador.
The artistic swimming shone with the first medal for the duo Diosdado-Joana Jiménez, who triumphed in the technical duet. In addition, mixed duo Itzamary González and Diego Villalobos retained the silver medal. Lonely, Joana Jiménez was also the second best in the technical solo.
