Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie found some apt words for Donald Trump after he poked fun at his weight days after he was booed off the stage at a Republican religious conference for addressing his outspoken Republican rival .
Less than two days after that ordeal, Christie, 60, appeared on Fox News to add to some of his Friday remarks about the ex-president – who he claimed “disappoints us”, lacks “character” and he ” makes our country”. “smaller” than head of state.
When asked in turn by moderator Howard Kurtz about the criticism he’s faced from his old Republican rival – who he’ll now face again in 2024 – Christie scoffed, claiming he wasn’t affected.
In particular, Kurtz referenced recent comments from 77-year-old Trump attacking the heavy weight of his Tri-State counterpart – including a manipulated video for Truth Social that appeared to show the New Jersey native participating in an all-you-can-eat Buffet showed.
The exchange of words between the two comes shortly after Christie announced he would be running against Trump in the upcoming GOP election, and after Christie took the time to reprimand Trump for his federal case, as well as another one that recently ended in Manhattan .

During the session, which was aired on MediaBuzz Sunday, Kurtz asked Christie – who had previously supported Trump after his defeat in 2016 – about the recent repeated attacks on his body.
He asked, “When Trump started hitting back on multiple fronts, he aimed for your weight — how did you react to that?”
Christie immediately dismissed the question and let out an audible taunt. ‘What? As if he were an Adonis?’ snapped the conservative sarcastically. ‘Please.’
He then took action against his Republican compatriot because he had not only acted childishly but also banally and thoughtlessly.
“I don’t know what he means. You know what it is? “It’s like a kid,” Christie said about a month after appearing in another spot with Fox celebrating Trump’s recent court defeat in the Big Apple while hinting at a second presidential bid.
“There’s a bully in the schoolyard teasing you and making fun of you.” Christie then announced what he described as his “message” to the hot-tempered former head of state.
He said, “I don’t care what he says about me.” “I don’t care what he thinks about me” — before quickly adding, “And he should take a look in the mirror every once in a while.”

During the session, which could be seen on MediaBuzz on Sunday, Fox Christie’s Howard Kurtz – who had previously supported Trump after his defeat in 2016 – asked about the recent attacks on his body and why it took so long for him to recover expressed dislike for his Republican rival
It was Christie’s way of saying, “Maybe he’d take the weight thing off his list of criticisms.”
At the beginning of the interview, Christie lashed out at Kurtz’s questions about his credibility, considering he had previously supported Trump, and only voiced his dislike of the president after the 2020 election.
As the New Jersey Republican explained, “We all have different breaking points, Howie.” We all need to have a moment when we say enough is enough. That was my moment.’
When asked if he waited too long to reach that conclusion, Christie said no, “I don’t think I waited too long.”
He said at length, “I think the right thing to do is try to make the person that’s in the White House the best president that can be for the whole country.”
“I tried that. It turned out that I hadn’t succeeded. So if you want to criticize me for not changing Donald Trump despite my best efforts, I plead guilty.”
Less than three weeks earlier – after Christie announced his presidential ambitions – Trump released an edited video of Christie intended to look like the politician was announcing his campaign at an all-you-can-eat buffet.
An accompanying caption, posted to the ex-president’s Truth Social account, further poked fun at Christie — as well as his speech, which Trump linked him to the Harry Potter villain “Voldemort” and him referred to as a “lonely, selfish, selfish mirror” pig.’
“How many times has Chris Christie used the word SMALL? Does he have a mental problem with SIZE? Actually, his speech was SMALL and not very good. “It was all over the place and no one had any idea what he was talking about,” Trump wrote.
“Hard to watch, boring, but that’s what you get from a failed governor (New Jersey) who left office with a 7% approval rating and then was driven out of New Hampshire. ‘This time will be no different!’ .
The comments weren’t the first time Trump has criticized Christie’s weight, as the ex-president posted another photoshopped buffet photo in 2022.
An accompanying caption read: “Chris Christie at Roy Rogers at 11pm trying to get comfort.”
On Friday, Christie was mocked at the Faith and Freedom Coalition policy conference in Washington after she slammed Trump.
He began his performance by saying he planned to talk about “character,” before pounding away at the former commander-in-chief about halfway through the speech — prompting boos and cheers of “We love Trump!” From the crowd.
Christie has been bombarded with blatant jokes about weight in recent weeks, including from longtime Trump adviser Roger Stone. Trump recently retweeted a post by Stone with an image apparently manipulated to make Christie look taller after he criticized his weight last year
On Friday, Christie, who announced his candidacy for president earlier this month, was met with derision at the Faith and Freedom Coalition policy conference in Washington after he snubbed Trump
“I’m running because he let us down,” Christie said.
“He let us down because he’s unwilling to take responsibility for the mistakes that have been made.” And any mistakes that he has. And all the things he’s done.
“And that’s not for everyone with leadership, that’s a failure of leadership,” the former New Jersey governor added.
The remark drew a loud boo from the crowd. “You can boo me if you want,” he shot back.
“But here’s the thing. Our faith teaches us that people must take responsibility for what they do. “People need to stand up and take responsibility for what they do,” he continued.
Christie noted that as soon as the ex-president started criticizing Trump, he began berating him.
“And belittle me,” Christie offered. A handful of people shouted “We love Trump”. “And you can love him all you want,” Christie replied.
Christie endorsed Trump in 2016 after he abandoned the race after his own sixth-place finish in New Hampshire.
On June 1, Trump again published an insult to his longtime adviser Roger Stone.
Stone posted a manipulated picture of Christie struggling with his weight. “@ChrisChristie needs to run. Not for the President. “He just has to run,” Stone wrote. Trump re-released the letter without comment.
