Shane Warne’s family have once again expressed their disappointment at Channel Nine’s controversial two-part miniseries ‘Warnie’ after the first part aired on Sunday night

Entertainment reporter Peter Ford said he had spoken to cricketer Keith’s father and said he was not happy about the “inaccurate” timeline of his son’s marriage to Simone Callahan and romance with Liz Hurley.

“I got a call from Keith last night just before it aired,” he said on 3AW radio.

“Last week I reported that Keith and Shane’s brother Jason went to a private screening of the miniseries and they were pleasantly surprised and quite pleased with what they saw.”

“That’s what the people who were there told me. But speaking to Keith last night, he said that wasn’t an accurate description of her reaction to it.”

Peter said Keith believes his son’s development from a “big teenager to a mature adult” was not portrayed on the show.

“He also feels that there were some inaccuracies that didn’t work out well for Shane.” Like the time he spent with Liz Hurley.’

“That’s right, but on the show shown he did that while still married to Simone and Keith strongly believes there was a gap between those two things.”

“He’s not angry, he’s just disappointed with the result.”

It comes after Shane’s ex-wife Simone criticized the timing of the miniseries.

The former WAG believes it is too soon for a show about the late cricketer, who died suddenly of a heart attack on March 4, 2022 while on holiday in Thailand aged just 52.

“I didn’t want to read too much about it, but to be honest I find it a little rude and mean,” she told the Herald Sun.

The first half of Warnie aired on Sunday night and chronicled his early life and meteoric rise to fame as a great cricketer.

Viewers weren’t impressed with what they saw, and many shared their thoughts on Twitter.

“The Warnie series couldn’t do better to represent how trashy your brand is.” Insult to the big man. Shame!’ wrote one person.

“Aside from the cringe factor, this is just plain boring,” another tweeted, while another wrote, “This is fishy and getting worse…”
