On Sunday (25th), one person died and nine others were injured after a roller coaster derailed at an amusement park in Stockholm, Sweden. The accident happened in “Grona Lund”, which has existed for 140 years. According to g1, the park administration confirmed that one person had died and said they were investigating the causes of the incident.
According to reports, children are also among the victims. However, the authorities did not provide any information about the state of health of the injured. The cart would have left the movement route while the toy’s structure was shaking, causing some people to fall. “My husband saw a roller coaster car with people falling to the ground,” journalist Jenny Lagerstedt told Swedish broadcaster SVT. She was visiting with her family at the time of the accident.
In addition to ambulances and the fire brigade, a helicopter also provided first aid. The other occupants of the toy also had to be rescued. According to the authorities, nine people are in the hospital, three of them with serious injuries. “It was incredibly tragic and shocking and we have been informed that unfortunately one person has died,” said Grona Lund spokeswoman Annika Troselius.
Sweden’s Minister of Culture Parisa Liljestrand also commented on the tragic incident. “My thoughts are with those affected and their families and loved ones,” she said.
