Ukraine reports Russian attacks in Zaporizhia region

According to the government, Ukraine has recaptured about 130 square kilometers along the southern front line from Russian forces since the start of the counter-offensive. In the past week, however, the situation in the south has not changed significantly, Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maljar told state radio on Monday.

There were around 250 battles last week along the eastern frontline near the towns of Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marjinka. “Ukrainian forces made progress on the northern and southern flanks,” the Defense Ministry’s daily intelligence report on the war in Ukraine said in London on Monday.

On the whole, the British have a low estimate of Russia’s ability to build up its forces across hundreds of miles of front line. There is little evidence that Russia has significant reserves of operational ground forces, the statement said.

The British Ministry of Defense published daily information on the course of the war since the beginning of the Russian war of aggression 16 months ago. Moscow accuses London of disinformation.

According to the Ukrainian General Staff on Monday morning, Russian troops in the central Ukrainian region of Zaporizhia launched a series of attacks using different weapons systems. Among other things, at least six modified S-300 anti-aircraft missiles were deployed. In addition, 33 air strikes and 45 attacks by multiple rocket launchers have been recorded since Sunday.

“As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, civilians were injured and homes, commercial and administrative buildings and private vehicles were damaged,” says the latest administration report. The information could not be independently verified.

According to the General Staff, Russian troops tried to stop the advance of Ukrainian units in the region south of Zaporizhia and recover lost positions. At least 30 settlements were shelled by Russian artillery.
