BET Awards: Rap legend Busta Rhymes delivers a moving message against violence

US rap veteran Busta Rhymes spoke from the bottom of his heart yesterday against the violence plaguing the industry.

The 51-year-old artist spoke at the BET Awards, held in Los Angeles, from where he departed with an award honoring his long career. In his speech, the rapper was full of praise for his environment and the next generation of musicians. Busta then turned to artists who would like to follow in his footsteps.

“We have to stop this petty argument,” he said, wiping away a tear. “I’m sick of seeing this. We need to get out of this violent narrative, stop dividing and start helping each other,” he pleaded.

Since the beginning of 2022, nearly ten rappers performing in the United States have died from violent circumstances, including Takeoff, a member of the popular group Migos, who was shot dead last November.
