The Rhodes Urban and Agricultural Comprehensive Base Business Unit’s La Vega Dairy Intervention Center was scheduled to officially begin production of two hundred females and four Siboney crossbreed bulls these days.

Luis Manuel Vázquez Solís, a specialist at Grupo Empresarial Ganadero’s company, reports that the group embarked on this journey in 2017, preparing the soil, planting pastures and providing a 4.5-hectare protein bank.

They currently have cows that produce more than eight liters of milk a day, although the average is over 4.3 liters; The goal is to reach three hundred copies and produce more than twelve liters each.

To achieve better results, they have a machine milking system with eighteen stalls that can accommodate 36 cows. They also have an insemination trap where they lay out the details.

“For insemination we have an employment contract with the Artificial Insemination Company, they bring semen and nitrogen and the National Directorate of Genetics determines which of the four bulls we have here to use.” “We have an enclosure system with 54 cantons and for animal feed, we have 54 hectares of protein-rich pastures with the fundamental impact of mechanical irrigation.”

Cattle have arrived at La Vega Dairy Intervention Center, mainly from genetic engineering companies from the west of the country belonging to Grupo Empresarial Ganadero, from Camilo Cienfuegos, from Valle del Perú, from Los Naranjos, from Matanzas Genetics and also with contributions from the UEB Aguadita of of the Comprehensive Agricultural Company of Cienfuegos.

In these days, the preparation of the insemination traps must be completed, which together with the milking parlour, two shade sheds and the maternity area will allow the official opening of the center, the milk production of which already goes to the state .
