When they met at a beauty pageant in Thailand three years ago, the Argentine was Mariana Varella and the Puerto Rican Fabiola Valentin They knew immediately that they had something in common. “From that moment on, we bonded and became inseparable,” says Valentin. Although their romance began then, the world found out in October when the photo of 26-year-old former Miss Argentina and 23-year-old former Miss Puerto Rico announcing on the networks that they had gotten married went viral.
Since then, they have received numerous congratulations, but also the occasional criticism, for which the two models are more than prepared. “We understand that criticism comes with the exhibition. It’s a lesson we’ve learned through our profession and we know that there are different opinions and perspectives on life in this world,” notes Valentín. “But if those opinions of us are malicious or untrue, we will not let it get to us.” Their love of the shield goes hand in hand with whatever they do. “We accompany each other at all times, from the cup of coffee to our personal goals,” says Valentin. –Leonela Taveras
