Will Taylors Swifts Eras Tour Be Her First BILLION DOLLAR

Will Taylor’s Swift’s Eras Tour Be Her First BILLION DOLLAR Tour?

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour could become her first billion-dollar show — even eclipsing Elton John as the highest-grossing concert tour in history.

The 33-year-old singer embarked on her record-breaking debut 52-date tour in March and recently added numerous new dates that have taken her to 106 shows worldwide, which could give her $1 billion in gross revenue.

The US division broke Ticketmaster records with daily sales of two million.

The current record holder for the highest-grossing concert tour is Elton John’s epic five-year Farewell Yellow Brick Road world tour, which concludes next month — and has grossed more than $887 million, beating the previous record of 776 set by Ed Sheeran’s Divide Tour million dollars was broken (2017-2019).

Her highest-grossing stadium tour to date was the Reputation Stadium Tour, which ran from May to November 2018 and grossed a whopping $345.7 million.

Jarred Arfa, Billy Joel’s co-agent and Chief Operating Officer of Artist Group International, told The Wall Street Journal, “What we’re seeing on this particular Taylor tour is almost like a one-off phenomenon.” It’s quite amazing.’

He reckons the tour will cost more than $1 billion, while others are predicting $700 million to $900 million in revenue.

In December, Billboard estimated that the first 52 shows of the Eras Tour would gross $590 million, with an average ticket price of $215. Ticket prices for Swift ranged from $50 to nearly $900 for VIP packages.

Tickets tend to cost 20 to 30 percent more in the US than the rest of the world, meaning the new series of 54 shows per ticket isn’t worth as much as the American leg.

Swift is keeping her nightly concert earnings a secret from Billboard Boxscore and plans to “report on it later,” Dave Brooks, Billboard’s executive director of live music and touring, told the publication.

WSJ reports that Swift raked in about $40 million in concert tickets over a recent concert weekend. That means each of the three concerts would gross in excess of $13 million, with their average gross appearances averaging $10 million.

It’s estimated that Swift takes home between 40 and 60 percent of the show’s gross revenue — with the entire tour — minus advertising and hosting costs — generating $350 million to $500 million in profit.

It’s also estimated that Swift rakes in about $2 million a night from merchandise — potentially adding $140 million in earnings to Swift’s concert earnings.

The ticketing titan canceled general ticket sales and released a now-deleted statement that offered no apology, prompting an angry reaction from Swift herself.

She said she’s “confident” the company can handle the high demand for tickets, and “it really pisses me off that a lot of them feel like they went through multiple bear attacks to get these tickets.”

This forced Ticketmaster to apologize, but they only offered a few words of apology before praising the “record sales” of the tickets.

The Justice Department also increased pressure on the company, launching an antitrust investigation into Ticketmaster owner Live Nation Entertainment.
