Hunter Biden the tanguy of American politics

Hunter Biden, the tanguy of American politics

My Text from last Wednesday Hardly was it released than we learned that two whistleblowers from the IRS (Internal Revenue Service), the equivalent of the Revenue Agency, claimed that the Justice Department had given Hunter Biden preferential treatment.

It now appears that the son’s unhappiness weighs as heavily in American perceptions as the president’s age and health.

Limits of paternal protection?

In an opinion piece published by The New York Times on Saturday, columnist Nicholas Kristof recalled how often Joe Biden honorably intervened to offer support to his son.

If we can understand someone who’s already lost their daughter and other son stepping in to remind Hunter that he will definitely be by his side, we also have to recognize that he’s terribly awkward when he is not dishonest.

When he was vice president, Joe Biden allowed his son to fly to China on Air Force Two when he knew he was doing business there. It wasn’t very smart.

The President recently claimed that he knows nothing about his son’s affairs, which is untrue, and that he has done nothing wrong. We now know that that too was a mistake.

Kristof may well argue that those struggling with drug and alcohol problems deserve as much love as Joe Biden has for his son, but the story remains unclear.

Furthermore, is it politically wise to be as open with his son as the President did in Ireland or during the reception for Narendra Modi last week?

The very presence of the Indian Prime Minister, an inevitable partner, sparked controversy over his authoritarian exercise of power. The presence of the son was not required.

someone is lying

As far back as June 2022, I claimed to fear for American democracy what has been happening around Hunter Biden lately offers me no consolation.

As Jonathan Turley pointed out in a piece published by The Hill, Garland and his team are either lying or whistleblowing.

WHO? Very smart who can confirm it beyond a doubt and that’s the worst part. A majority of Americans believe there is political interference in the judiciary. Confidence in the system is at a lower level than under William Barr and Donald Trump.

Pieces of the puzzle are still missing on the story of the Biden son and the alleged role of the president. More information may be shared with us soon, but in the meantime, the Hunter-Biden saga not only detracts from perceptions of Joe Biden’s work, it also erodes the image of the American judiciary.
