Amazon Prime Day is officially back – and the online retailer is getting a head start on deals by offering the lowest price for a Prime membership yet.

New users can get a generous 30-day free trial of Amazon Prime, which allows them to try out all the Prime member benefits for a whole month without paying.

Amazon’s latest offering also aims to re-engage former Prime members by reducing a week-long subscription to just $2. A monthly Prime membership typically costs $15 (or about $3.75 per week). So, save a dollar and some loose change with the new Prime membership offer.

After this week, prices will go back up to $15 per month. Consumers have the choice to continue with the regular tariff or cancel the subscription. (It’s worth noting that the Federal Trade Commission recently filed a lawsuit against Amazon over the cancellation process.)

Another Prime membership offer: People receiving SNAP, Medicaid, or other qualifying government assistance can save more than 50 percent on the subscription price with Prime Access. Check here if you are eligible to get a Prime membership for just $7 a month.

An Amazon Prime membership is one of the best deals on the web, as dozens of exclusive deals and benefits are reserved for Prime members only.

The new offer for Prime members comes as Amazon kicks off its annual Prime Day shopping event (it’s rumored to be happening sometime this summer). The two-day event features thousands of discounts on beauty, fashion, home goods, electronics and more, with retail prices reserved for Prime members.

Amazon Prime members also get free two-day shipping, same-day delivery, and expedited shipping on millions of products on the site, and Amazon is now offering free two-hour delivery on Amazon Fresh or Whole Foods Market grocery delivery in select US cities.

The story goes on

Additional benefits for Prime members include access to all TV shows and films streaming on Prime Video, including The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The Rings of Power and the current hit film Air. Prime members can stream anything on-demand from their TV, computer, tablet or phone.

Lesser-known or “hidden” Prime benefits include exclusive member pricing at Amazon 4-Star and bookstores; Prime’s “Try Before You Buy” and personal shopper service for select apparel, shoes and accessories; discounts on subscriptions; and 5 percent cashback on purchases made with an Amazon Prime loyalty card.

Members also get secure, unlimited photo storage in Amazon Drive; can borrow books and magazines from Prime Reading on a Fire tablet or Kindle e-reader; and can stream thousands of songs, podcasts and playlists through Prime Music.

Amazon’s prices have remained the same since announcing the last price increase in February 2022. While the site has always offered a free trial, the discounted subscription price for returning users is relatively new, making it worth taking advantage of. Full pricing details can be found here.

New users can get a 30-day free trial of Amazon Prime here. Returning users, meanwhile, can take advantage of the new $2 offer here. Don’t forget to choose to continue (or cancel before the week is up) for $15 a month.
