Recall that the athlete’s father died of pneumonia on March 28, 2022. On June 22, his mother came to see him.

“I’m Marie-Eve Ricard, friend and colleague of Josée. It is with great sadness that I send you these words from Josée:
On Thursday, June 22nd, the earth stopped rotating again. Mom went to dad. A sudden and brutal farewell that took our breath away and broke our hearts, Joane, Luc and I… and then all the people who loved her so much!
His great grief will have lasted a few months. She couldn’t live without her dad anymore. She’s definitely dancing with him now… Or they go hand in hand like we’ve seen them many times.
I no longer have the strong and loving homeland of my parents, but the countless memories and all the goodness of the world they brought are within me now. i keep you in my heart Always.
Social media friends, you guys have always been so good to me. I wanted you to know The pain is so great…but there is so much love all around us………
