Floods in Baie-Saint-Paul: 70 notifications, 15 authorizations and 2 demolitions – Le Charlevoisien

The city of Baie-Saint-Paul processed 15 building permit applications after the May 1st floods.

According to the town hall, two plots of land will be demolished from June 26th. This number could change as certificates are issued to homeowners whose homes have been affected by flooding.

According to the mayor, 70 damage reports have been received so far. “People who have their certificate wait for submission before applying for approval. Inquiries are processed promptly. The sooner we have it, the quicker it will be processed,” says Michaël Pilote.

It also states that citizens who come to submit the damage certificate can submit an application for a permit at the same time. “We understand that the answers are not arriving as quickly as citizens would like them to be, but we are doing everything we can to ensure that it happens quickly.”

For those wondering why the work didn’t start sooner, the city was required to obtain a permit from the Quebec Department of the Environment to carry out the work.

From May 1st, access to this densely populated area was only via Saint-Édouard street.
