The Daily Planet has two new employees.
David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan are the DC Universe’s new It Couple, having been cast as Clark Kent and Lois Lane in 2025’s Superman: Legacy.
The film will be written and directed by DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn, who aims to develop a new cinematic vision for the company based on Marvel Studios’ first decade.
Certain comic details are still being kept secret. Will Lois and Clark meet for the first time in this latest episode? Will they be rivals in the newsroom? Friends? Lover? spouse? Variety reports that it will be a “workplace origin story,” but other details, such as the time period, are unclear. So maybe they’re meeting up while stuck in a meeting about getting more subscribers, not tweeting their stories. It’s safe to say that Lois probably wouldn’t do that You know that under his shirt and tie, Clark has a big “S” across his chest. There’s no greater suspense than when will Lois find out? The history of the comics teaches us that Lois eventually marries Clark, having also discovered who he is when his glasses are taken off. Will Gunn follow a similar path with his first (and not last) dynamic duo?
Corenswet is known for roles in The Politician and Pearl. He’s 6’1″ and wants to give DC Studios a Superman modeled after the lean and fit Christopher Reeve, as opposed to Henry Cavill, who last appeared on screens in DC’s Man of Steel. Still, Corenswet was probably getting a protein shake and doing tricep pulldowns as you read this.
How “Superman” led to superhero films 40 years ago
Corenswet told Entertainment Weekly in 2019 that he was told he bore a striking resemblance to Cavill, and said his goal was “definitely to play Superman.” I’d love to see someone do that optimistic retrospect [take on Superman]. I love Henry Cavill’s somber and somber take, but I’d like to see the next one be very bright and upbeat.”
Brosnahan hails from an award-winning series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and has also appeared in the Netflix series House of Cards.
recently reported that Superman: Legacy will see the debut of The Authority, a superhero team formed by Warren Ellis and Bryan Hitch in the late ’90s, and Superman likely has not just an enemy, but one whole group of them gives Lex Luthor. The role of one of DC’s most prominent villains has yet to be cast.
The news comes faster than a speeding bullet after the disappointing box office results of The Flash and makes it clear that the future for DC Studios is now.
