Alianza Lima suffered a defeat at the hands of Athletico Paranaense that dashed any hopes of continuing to play in an international tournament. Speaking after the game, the intimate side’s DT pointed out that conceding an early goal changed their approach.
“Sorry, because we say goodbye to this trophy. The team gave their all in this first phase and I’m proud of my players. We had some scoring situations and our approach changed a lot when we conceded a goal very early on. “We controlled the ball and had a few chances but lacking peace of mind we didn’t know how to finish. I’m happy with the experience we’ve gained and I congratulate Paranaense because it’s a great team,” he said at a press conference.
