CF Montreal will have a representative in the Major League Soccer (MLS) All-Star Game, Quebec’s Mathieu Choinière, who will take on English team Arsenal at Audi Field in Washington on July 19.
The midfielder received an invite from MLS commissioner Don Garber, who chose him based on one of his two discretionary choices.

“This is a well-deserved recognition for Mathieu, a player who always puts the team ahead of his individual achievements,” CF Montreal head coach Hernán Losada said in a statement on Tuesday. He’s an inspiration to all the young players in our group and at the club. This is an example of hard work and dedication for all of us. He will represent us with pride and honor.”
The 24-year-old Choinière has played 1,446 minutes in 17 games this season, recording two goals and three assists. He also allowed CF to reach the finals of the recent Canadian Championship.
Against Arsenal, MLS will count on 26 athletes, including a dozen chosen by head coach Wayne Rooney, who will head the group at the stadium for DC United, the team he coaches during the regular season. Notable among the guests was former CF Kei Kamara, now a member of the Chicago Fire.
