A Rai Cultura series in six episodes dedicated to scientific dissemination and the various fields of knowledge: Alberto Angela’s new program “Noos – The Adventure of Knowledge” starts on Thursday 29 June at 9:25 p.m. on Rai 1. The first episode traditionally begins with spectacular images of nature and the story of a lioness and her cubs struggling to survive in the Serengeti plains between Kenya and Tanzania.
Alberto Angela’s guest will be Harrison Ford, who will reprise the role of Indiana Jones in the fourth film in the series: a fictional archaeologist driven by the same curiosity that is the guiding principle of Noos. There will also be other guests in the studio, who will return several times throughout the series: astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti will lead an exciting journey into space from the start of this first episode; the historian Alessandro Barbero, referring to Napoleon, will show the role of propaganda in the construction of a historical figure; writer Carlo Lucarelli will tell the story of Prussian blue, “the color of the devil”; the national secretary of Cicap, Massimo Polidoro, will warn against fake images created by artificial intelligence; 25 years after the invention of the “blue pill”, sexologist Emmanuele Jannini talks about our sexual behavior, while nutritionist Elisabetta Bernardi explains the mechanism of satiety and how to promote it with an anti-hunger biscuit.
The adventure of knowledge, as the program subtitles, unfolds in a series of film services. Particular attention is paid to the theme of the environment: a dive into the depths of the island of Giglio shows how a scientific team took care of the marine environment damaged by the sinking of the Costa Concordia.
Out of curiosity about everything that moves in the field of scientific research, “Noos” went to the Sant’Anna school in Pisa: here the artificial hand was created that reacts to the movements imagined by the patient; a feat that borders on science fiction. And speaking of sci-fi, you’ll see with Luca Perri how believable and probable the lightsaber from Star Wars is.
The first episode of “Noos” is also a special tribute to the great scientist Margherita Hack, who passed away ten years ago on June 29th. Edwige Pezzulli follows in his footsteps and presents The Cradle of the Stars, some extraordinary images of space taken with the James Webb Space Telescope.
The field in which “Noos” operates is very wide, with a particular focus on the future: what will be the new sources of well-being and wealth? In the future, it could be the Arctic that transforms from a barren expanse of ice into the new promised land for governments and energy multinationals. And looking back, how is it that the bodies of seventeen nuns who died in the 17th century have been kept mummified in a monastery in Lazio to this day?
Giuliana Galati and Ruggero Rollini will show some physical and chemical phenomena that can also be observed at home, especially those liquids that behave in unique ways, like liquids and like solids. And finally writing: How did the letters of our alphabet come about? A fountain pen with the voice of Paola Cortellesi will tell the story.
