After being unable to hold a public gathering for the Fête du Québec in Sept-Rivières due to a lack of funds and volunteers, Canada Day offers a packed program on Saturday, July 1 at the Parc du Vieux-Quai in Sept-Îles.

A protocol ceremony of flag-raising and music in the presence of local officers from the Naval Reserve HMCS Jolliet, RCMP and Corps of Cadets will mark the opening at 1:00 p.m. Following the celebrations, there will be activities for children near the water features in the afternoon and a show in the Yellow Tent from 7pm.

Caroline Noël and Guy Porlier of Duo Boréal and Innu singer Laurence Jourdain will open the stage. With a career spanning nearly 40 years and regularly conducting in France, Florida and throughout Quebec, the singer from Havre-Saint-Pierre will take the lead around 8:30 p.m. A fifteen-minute fireworks display with a soundtrack from the Bay of Sept-Îles rounded off the Canada Day program.

“The Organizing Committee is pleased to announce that the fireworks will take place with partial bans on open fire and with the approval of the City of Sept-Îles,” said spokeswoman Nancy Bois. In case of bad weather on Saturday, the show and fireworks will be postponed to Sunday.
