Arslanbek Makhmudov wants to fight Anthony Joshua

Arslanbek Makhmudov is not lacking in confidence and it seems only a matter of time before he takes on the best heavyweights in the world. The Quebec-based Russian is now delivering the invitations.

One boxer is of particular interest to Eye of the Tiger Management’s protégé: Anthony Joshua. The Brit has yet to meet Makhmudov, but he has made the connection to the amateur career of the 33-year-old athlete.

In fact, at this level, Joshua suffered losses in 2011 to Mahammadrasul Majidov and Mihai Nistor, two opponents the Mozdok native managed to defeat.

“My goal is to destroy everyone,” Makhmudov said in an interview with Sky Sports on Tuesday. I would like to fight Anthony Joshua. It is interesting. He lost to two opponents and I beat those two guys. We already have a story. It would be an interesting fight.”

Makhmudov’s next fight (16-0-0, 15 KOs), his first on American soil, will be in Ohio on July 1st. He meets unbeaten Nigerian Raphaël Akpejiori (15-0-0, 14 KOs).
