On Android, Google can ask you if it’s raining – iGeneration

Apple’s Weather app is nice and handy – iOS 17 adds a lot of extra information – but its forecasts aren’t necessarily always very reliable. In one of our recent polls, some of you felt the predictions were too random.

No app is perfect in this area. The same goes for Google’s weather forecast for Android, which can of course be found in the dedicated application, but also in the search app. Google is rolling out a new weather presentation with a totally friendly frog, and of course all the graphics look great. What’s even more interesting is that the search can ask the user if it’s raining at their location.

The only two options are “Yes” and “No”. The information is then used by Google to “monitor the quality of the weather results and update the data”. Similar to Waze, where drivers are encouraged to report incidents, one can imagine that the reports provided by users could alert the community to a real-time weather event.

We find something similar in Apple’s Weather app, although it’s a lot less direct (the option is at the bottom of the app’s home page) and a lot more complete, so it can be a little daunting and ultimately daunting.
