NEW YORK — Colombian superstar Karol G, known to many as “La Bichota,” made history Friday with his free concert for NBC’s TODAY show at Manhattan’s popular Rockefeller Center.
And it is that the Medellín native and winner of several awards such as the Latin Grammys, Billboard Awards, MTV and others attracted “the largest audiences we have ever had” to the free concerts of the TODAY program, as described by the presenters. A total of 15,000 followers of the artist were present, the program said.
These thousands of fans of the reggaeton and urban music star packed the Rockefeller Center area starting Thursday night not to miss the presentation of their favorite artist.
Pictures from the concert show the crowd surrounding the stage ready to sing along to songs from their latest album, Tomorrow will be beautiful.
One of those present, a little girl, cried upon seeing the singer and had the opportunity to hug her before the concert started.
“We have a wonderful experience and I’m very grateful and happy for everyone’s support,” said the interpreter of big hits like Tusa, Provenza and TQG.
During the concert, Karol G and his female band performed some of his best-known songs from the album Mañana Será Bonito, released earlier this year, including the single of the same name. They also performed TQG, a song he composed in collaboration with Shakira and Amargura.
The concert comes a month before the start of the singer’s US tour, which begins August 3 in Chicago.
He performed the song “While I Heal My Heart”.
