The week begins with excitement in our skies as Venus and Uranus push and pull at each other, prompting us to witness the battle that may be taking place within us as well. As the days progress, the Full Moon in Capricorn offers liberation and renewal.
Venus in Leo square Uranus in Taurus
Astrology is known for tracking the terrestrial effects of the movement of the sun and planets through the phases of the moon using the signs of the zodiac and the lunar cycle. A lesser-known aspect of astrology is the way the planets communicate, collaborate, and generate invitations through their relative positions.
The relationships between planets are not alien to us. We feel their effect through the monthly transits and we feel their influence in our natal charts and therefore in ourselves.
A square aspect occurs when two planets are three signs apart. This creates friction. It’s the kind of tension that can feel like opposing forces, aspects of ourselves that initially feel like they can never fit together, like one is fighting the other. This feeling lingers until we decide to step forward and deal with this tension, before eventually realizing that it is one of our greatest strengths, motivators, and gateways to ourselves.
Squares are chances. They lead us out of complacency and into change. When we make the decision to be with what is ours, to heal what is within us, and to embody the wholeness of ourselves, that decision presents us with possibilities—whether prompted from within or within triggered by an outside experience.
In astrology, Venus represents what we value. In ourselves, in others, in the people we want to give space to in our lives and in what we value around us, be it art, food, career or beauty. What we value reflects who we are, and the choices we make based on those values fuel our confidence and fulfillment. The expression of Venus, known as love, is most evident in our relationships, be they romantic, friendly, business or otherwise.
Uranus has a very different tone. Uranus is the side of us that needs freedom. Uranus is change and revolution. It messes things up and destroys old beliefs in order to move forward and break down long-held structures that are holding us back.
As Venus approaches retrograde from late July, its encounter with Uranus on July 2 looks like a start to what we might invite further reflection, reflection and review during the retrograde move that soon awaits us.
This square can feel as if something is emerging within us that is ready to witness, whether it be emotions we have denied, desires we have pushed into the shadows, deeds we have denied, or values, that we have buried in the name of security, peace, ease or something else. Uranus pierces the defenses we may have erected and brings what is ours to the fore and center.
Full Moon in Capricorn
Full moons are a time of liberation. The moon has evolved to the point of fullness where the only direction is to empty, let go and surrender. It’s an invitation to graduation.
Capricorn is here as an archetype to realize our greatest potential. It is here for the journey to the top of our mountain. Here we will be on our way to the top of what we are becoming.
Capricorn builds us up. It challenges us. It shapes us. And it teaches us. Capricorn reminds us that no matter what lies ahead, we have the inner resources to keep going, whether familiar with them or hidden and untapped. Sometimes it is only at the moment when an obstacle is preventing us from advancing that these resources make us dig deep and find them so that we can continue advancing.
While the Moon is in Capricorn, the Sun and Mercury are in Cancer. As a water sign, Cancer is the meaning we find through exploring our emotional waters and the currents of our bodies. It is our inner foundation.
The full moon on July 3 is an invitation to delve deep within to explore the outer grounds. It is an invitation to delve into your body, explore your emotions, and nurture your heart, just as it is an invitation to engage with practical mind, discipline, structure, and long-term desires.
By sinking inward and looking outward, we return to the Moon’s current state, which is about letting go. We allow the realizations deep within our emotions, coupled with the long-term desires we know are already ours, and we let go of anything we’re holding onto that’s hindering our journey. We look within, we look around and we begin to let go of the weight that is holding us back from climbing our mountain.
Your invitation
Consideration. felt experience. Be with what rises deep within your body. Express your feelings in a way that helps you understand them, whether it’s through movement, art, music, writing, or conversation.
The invitation is the presence of your experience and the grace to feel whatever you feel, even if it conflicts with who you think you should be, what you think you should be experiencing or how you think you should be that you should live your life.
Uranus wants to break down the perspectives through which you created your reality. It shows you that there is more, that it is different, that there is a new way of looking at it. But first you need to break the boundaries of what you’ve been perceiving through.
Lean into your Venus and explore what your values are, what your needs are, what desires come from deep within you, and whether they are being fulfilled by you, others, your surroundings, or your experience of reality in general.
Then there is an opportunity to exhale. To let go. Let go. This week’s full moon comes at a wonderful time for physical relaxation. Shake out the emotions. Go through your reluctance. Get rid of the clutter in your head. And indulge in your experience without having to fully understand everything.
Let Capricorn remind you of the path that is yours. The path that pushes you to do your best. The path that makes you want to keep getting up, no matter how many times you’ve fallen. The path that will bring out the power within you that you didn’t know you had. The way that’s yours
