All-Star Game: No Blue Jays player in the starting lineup

Toronto Blue Jays fans will surely be disappointed to learn that none of their representatives will be on the starting lineup for the next Major League Baseball All-Star Game on July 11 at Seattle’s T-Mobile Park.

The Manfred Circuit presented the list of starting players for the formations of the two leagues on Thursday evening.

In the first voting update, which took place on June 12, three players from the Toronto team were among the front-runners in the popular vote for their respective positions in the American Football League. They were Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (first baseman), Bo Bichette (shortstop) and Matt Chapman (third baseman). Outfielders Whit Merrifield and Kevin Kiermaier’s names were added during the final phase of fan voting.

The Texas Rangers will certainly steal the show in this classic as they will have four of their players in action. Jonah Heim (catcher), Marcus Semien (second baseman), Josh Jung (third baseman), and Corey Seager (shortstop) received enough votes to start the game.

The Atlanta Braves are the National League’s most-replay team with a total of three replays this baseball holiday. Sean Murphy (receiver), Orlando Arcia (shortstop) and Ronald Acuna Jr. (outfielder) will be there. Acuna Jr. had already secured his spot on the starting grid by finishing first after the first voting period.

The two best players in the world

For the third year in a row, the Los Angeles Angels will see their two biggest stars square off in the All-Star Game. Shohei Ohtani (designated hitter) and Mike Trout (outfielder) will be cheering.

Ohtani, who leads the majors with 29 home runs since the start of the season, had completed the first phase of the ballot as the leader and had already been named the American Championship’s starting designated hitter. The Japanese could also be the starting pitcher for this game.

A great absentee

Aaron Judge, whose name was in the starting eleven, should give up this duel. Judge is currently handicapped by a toe injury he sustained on June 4th.

The Yankees outfielder has participated in this duel four times in his career.

A first experience

Arizona Diamondbacks rookie outfielder Corbin Carroll gets a chance to play in his first-ever All-Star game. Since Carroll is from Seattle, he can perform in front of his family.

The 22-year-old has had a stellar season so far with 17 homers and 44 RBIs.
