The Oilers offer their “concierge” a contract

Mattias Janmark on Friday agreed to a one-year, $1 million contract extension with the Edmonton Oilers.

The Swede, nicknamed ‘Janitor’ (caretaker), worked as a luxury plumber for the Alberta team last season. After starting the American League season, he quickly returned to Edmonton to play 66 games.

The 30-year-old centerman had 25 points and maintained a solid +9 lead. He played in five playoff games, adding a point to his record.

The Oilers have a few other tasks ahead of them this summer. They also sent qualifying offers on Thursday to five players who will reach their autonomy with compensation, including Evan Bouchard, Ryan McLeod and Quebecers Raphaël Lavoie and Olivier Rodrigue.
