Cristina Pagán will be the new sports reporter for TeleOnce

Journalist and producer Cristina Pagán will be the new sports reporter for Las Noticias TeleOnce.

As reported by TVboricuaUSA magazine, Pagán will replace the recently sacked Luis Joel Aymat.

Pagán was a producer for Telemundo Puerto Rico’s news division for more than a decade. The young woman is a graduate of the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón and has a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in writing for the media.

It is currently unknown when Cristina Pagán will officially start her work in Las Noticias.

Pagán has been able to put into practice her facet as a reporter in areas such as the program Jorge y Grenda 100×35 and Radio Isla 1320AM; and most recently as a reporter for the National Superior Basketball (BSN) and the Puerto Rico Olympic Committee (COPUR).

On May 9, Las Noticias de TeleOnce sports presenter Luis Joel Aymat confirmed that he had been fired from his job and that a trial was underway, about which he declined to give further details.

Aymat indicated through his social media that he was fired yesterday, Monday, after about two years in this position, which he has held since the newscast began in 2021.

“As you know, my job as a sports presenter at Las Noticias de Teleonce ended yesterday. I will not elaborate on the reason for my dismissal as a trial is ongoing and I am confident that justice will be served. I can only say that it had nothing to do with my journalistic performance. With that in mind I would like to thank so many people who have shown me their support during this time. I have always been grateful to life because it has brought wonderful people to my path who really love me,” said Aymat.

“To the loyal viewers, THANK YOU SO MUCH. Sometimes things have to happen the way you want them to, to understand the impact you can have on so many people. Thank you for supporting my work and most of all for the love you have given me unconditionally. To my companions, I love you and we will meet again. Thank you from the bottom of my heart,” he added.

While Price served as the sports anchor on the local station, Aymat served as the anchor of the digital edition of Univisión News in Puerto Rico.

In addition, he has distinguished himself as a narrator for various sporting events such as the National Superior Basketball (BSN) and the Caribbean Series.
