What does the future hold for Jonathan Drouin

Jonathan Drouin joins Nathan MacKinnon at the Colorado Avalanche

After six seasons with the Canadiens, Jonathan Drouin will continue his career with the Colorado Avalanche.

The forward has agreed to the terms of a one-year, $825,000 deal. In Denver he meets Nathan McKinnon, with whom he has played rain or shine under the colors of the Halifax Mooseheads.

“We are very pleased with this appointment,” said Avalanche General Manager Chris MacFarland via video conference. It is a low risk, high potential bet.”

“Let’s say Nate (MacKinnon) was an honorary member of our recruiting department for a few days,” MacFarland continued. He fully supported this decision.”

Acquired by the Habs in June 2017 in exchange for Mikhail Sergachev, Drouin has not been able to establish himself in Montreal as he would have liked. The 28-year-old athlete, injured and struggling with anxiety, has spent most of the last four years in the infirmary.

He had his best moments in 2018-2019. He then had 53 points, including 18 goals, in 81 games.
