Twitter Reacts to ‘The Idol’ Finale: ‘Confused’ ‘Rated’ ‘Straight Trash’

Twitter users were left disappointed after Sunday night’s finale of Sam Levinson’s controversial HBO series The Idol. Some said it was “a waste of everyone’s time,” while others dismissed it as “pure rubbish.”

“Idol really was a waste of everyone’s time, but that’s what happens when men take over TV shows that weren’t their thing at all,” Darby Shaw tweeted, referring to Sam Levinson, who replaced original director Amy Seimetz.

Many have been puzzled by pop singer Jocelyn’s (Lily-Rose Depp) faltering affection for the abusive guru Tedros (Abel Tesfaye). “I’m confused as to when that jump in the series happened where Joseline hates Tedros and why does she still let him around if she hates him?” @cianf8 tweeted as the finale began with Jocelyn Tedros dating commanded her house.

“I can’t be the only one who feels that we skipped a lot of narrative between last week’s episode and tonight’s finale. Last weekend Jocelyn apologized for Tedros’ abusive past and now she’s done with his bullshit,” he wrote Andre Clemonswho also referred to the finale as “Straight Trash”.

Others found the finale “rushed” and many felt the series had left out some crucial details, thanks to a misleading “missing episode” article. Originally, the series was supposed to be six episodes under Seimetz, but it was always five under Levinson’s direction.

Viewer @swifts_dany called the series “the worst show I’ve ever seen” and said, “I can tell the diameter of Lily Rose Depp’s nipples, but I don’t know the history of the show.”

And others ranted about variations on “The idol really only turned out to be five hours…” by Rachel Sennott, who was trying to be a responsible girlfriend who was constantly humiliated by The Weeknd, b) “He treated Weeknd like a Vampire Jedi in disguise.” SPIRIT HALLOWEEN says some Freaky Boi things.”
